Afterglow is a private dream journal for iPhone. The app is designed so your dreams, check-ins, and voice memories stay on your device unless you choose to export them.

Information stored in the app

• Dream entries and fragments
• Dream titles, dates, notes, and reflections
• Moods, emotional tones, vividness, and recall clarity
• Tags, people, places, and symbols you add or approve
• Check-ins and reality check logs
• Voice recordings you create inside the app
• Preferences such as reminders, theme, and Plus status

Local storage

Afterglow stores your journal locally using Apple device storage. Afterglow does not run a social feed, public profile, or account system.

Deleting the app may delete local app data unless you have exported a backup or your device backup preserves app data.

Voice recordings

Voice recordings are saved locally on your device. They are not included in the free JSON backup export.

Speech recognition

If you use transcription, Afterglow uses Apple speech recognition features available on your device and operating system. Afterglow does not send your recordings to an Afterglow-owned server because Afterglow does not operate a backend for transcription.

Speech recognition behavior may depend on Apple’s system services, device settings, and OS support.

Notifications

Afterglow can send local reminders, such as morning dream reminders or reality check reminders. Notification settings are controlled by you and by iOS.

Export and import

Afterglow lets you export a JSON backup. Export is user-initiated. The backup includes written journal data and metadata such as dreams, check-ins, tags, moods, and reality check logs.

The JSON backup does not include voice recording audio files.

If you import a backup, Afterglow adds entries to your local archive and skips duplicates where possible.

Purchases

Afterglow Plus purchases are handled by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Afterglow does not process your payment card information.

Analytics and tracking

Afterglow does not use third-party advertising trackers or sell personal data. The current app does not require an account or a backend service.

• Offer a public social profile
• Publish your dreams
• Claim to diagnose, treat, or interpret mental health conditions
• Claim that your dreams predict the future
